It’s 28 years since Viv Lumsden began presenting Scotland Today on STV. But whenever she is under pressure, her subconscious drags her back to those first days in her new job.

“I still have dreams where I’m coming into the STV studio, not knowing where my script is,” she said.

“I’m in front of a camera, the autocue isn’t there, I’m telling everyone that I need a hard copy and they are telling me that we don’t do that any more, it’s just computers.

“Then the camera goes on and I’m flailing around.”

She left the station in 2002 but can still remember the horrors of being the one in the eye of a technical storm.

One night when Viv was in the chair, the top story was about MoD plans to privatise the naval dockyard at Rosyth.
